When it comes to education in Charlotte, there are plenty of choices, from elementary and high schools, to trade and specialty schools and accredited colleges and universities.

We have complied just a few below:

UNC Charlotte - Now a research intensive university, UNC Charlotte is the fourth largest of the 16 institutions within the University of North Carolina system and the largest institution in the Charlotte region.

The university comprises seven professional colleges and currently offers 17 doctoral programs, 59 master’s degree programs and 85 leading to bachelor’s degrees. More than 900 full-time faculty comprise the university’s academic departments and the 2006 fall enrollment exceeded 21,500 students. UNC Charlotte boasts more than 75,000 living alumni and adds 4,000 to 4,500 new alumni each year.

The Art Institute of Charlotte - offers programs in cooking, culinary arts, digital design, fashion marketing, graphic design, interior design, web design and more.

Johnson & Wales University - is a world-class university, where students have an opportunity to pursue a career education in business, hospitality, culinary arts, or technology. Scores of majors and degree programs are offered at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level.

Unique features include an upside-down curriculum, flexible scheduling, 98% employment rate, and hands-on training at University-owned and operated or partnership facilities or at worldwide co-op sites.

Queens University of Charlotte - Queens has been providing educational experiences that transform students’ lives and foster personal and professional success for more than a century. The University prides itself on a strong foundation – a Presbyterian heritage, an award-winning faculty, an innovative curriculum and an assortment of creative programs.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools - The public school system in Charlotte-Mecklenburg has a rich and complex history. Built upon the efforts of many individuals who firmly believed in the importance of education to this community, public schools in this area have had a tremendous impact on the growth and economy of the region -as well as the thousands of individuals it has served.

In 2007, 13 CMS high schools were ranked among America's top 900 out of more than 27,000 high schools surveyed by Newsweek magazine. Two CMS high schools – Myers Park and Harding University – were among the top 100, coming in at 29th and 58th, respectively. Newsweek’s ranking “recognizes schools that do the best job of preparing average students for college.”

Johnson C. Smith University - Founded in 1867 under the auspices of the Committee on Freedmen of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) is an independent, private, coeducational institution of higher learning.
